I’m backing Kelsey Wagner for Mayor of Ponca City because she has offered a statue of me at city hall! Not really, but she hasn’t said no!
Even if we don’t get the statue I totally deserve, I’m endorsing her because, she understands what it’s like to work hard, juggle responsibilities, and still care about making things better for the people around her. She’s not running for her ego or photo ops, she’s running because she genuinely loves this city and wants to see it thrive. That’s the kind of person I want leading my community.
Here’s the thing about Kelsey: she doesn’t just talk about getting things done, she does them. She grew up on a wheat farm, which might not sound like a big deal until you think about what that teaches you. Farming isn’t just hard work, it’s endless work. It’s the kind of life where you learn how to problem solve on the fly, push through challenges, and still show up the next day ready to do it all over again (but also get creative with duct tape and bailing wire). That kind of grit doesn’t go away, and you can see it in the way she’s tackled every role she’s taken on since.
And it’s not just talk. Kelsey has the receipts. She’s run successful businesses, like MyMediaMatters and Ponca City Monthly (highlighting the community and the people in it), and she’s spent years serving on boards and commissions to help move Ponca City forward. She’s been on the Planning Commission, the City Commission, the Chamber of Commerce board, Ponca Main Street, etc... She’s also been a key part of revitalizing downtown with the Grand Arts District as well as serving on the Ponca City Arts board. That’s not just a resume, that’s someone who’s been out there working for this community long before there was a campaign involved.
What I respect most about Kelsey is that she’s approachable. She’s not some distant politician who only shows up when there’s a ribbon to cut. She listens to real people, understands their challenges, and works to make life better for them. Whether you’re a small business owner, a parent, or just someone who wants to see Ponca City thrive, Kelsey’s got your back. She knows what it’s like to juggle a million things at once, and she’s proven she can do it without losing sight of what matters.
She’s not about big promises with no follow through. She’s about results. She knows how to make smart, thoughtful decisions that help people without wasting time or money. She’s been a business owner, so she knows how to stretch a dollar and make it work, because that’s what real people do every day.
